About

California Southern Baptist Convention

The Music and Worship department of the CSBC has been up and running since the 1960s. Several music ministry leaders across the years have led the charge to strengthen and train local church music leaders and teams. Each era of church music involvement over the decades has seen a distinct difference in what it takes to help the church musically. Presently, our Music Leader is Brother Roger Byrd, Musician-Minister, who began his work here in 2001. We're glad you're here!

Sharing my Passion

Hello, I'm Roger,

I'm glad you came by to find out more about what we do.

Our team serves roughly 2,400 churches and congregations across California. Many of these are "English second" churches, meaning they primarily speak another language at church. We have Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Hmong, and many other church cultures in our network. Helping all the churches in music is just as varied as the languages. We do our best to listen and help each minister-musician who calls and seeks our guidance.

Please use the "contact" page to leave me a note.

We'll get back to you soon.

--Roger Byrd

Our Events

We provide three main events each year to help strengthen the church.

  • Worship Workshop Weekend with CBU, Riverside, CA. This event usually happens the first weekend of February each year.
  • The Church Music Workshop North in Elk Grove, CA. This event happens in late February to early March each year.
  • The Fellowship of Church Musicians Conference is connected to our CSBC Annual Meeting each October. This event has a new location each year from Northern California to Central California and Southern California.
